Working With Business to Cover All Kids
Health advocates, business leaders and health policy experts understand that
covering all of California's kids will only happen if an equitable partnership
between the public and private sector is reached and they are taking steps to
get there. In the summer of 2005, United Way and the California Endowment convened a series of seven meetings
with business leaders throughout the state to learn more about the challenges
businesses face providing health care to their employees and to brainstorm solutions
to the problem of how to cover all kids. One thing was clear from these meetings:
Business leaders consider health care a priority and understand that covering
all kids is not just the right thing to do, it's good for business.
